"I bought tickets to an event happening at your church on Monday, is it going ahead?"

Answer: Let's think this through.....Has the Alberta Government moved Covid restrictions to Stage 3? Stage 3 allows performance venues to host events; but Stages 1 and 2 do not. So, if we are not at Stage 3 yet, then we as a church are not allowed to host performance events; regardless of what the event promoter says. It's like having a know-it-all friend of yours saying it's okay for you to go 160 km/hr in an 80 km/hr speed zone. Whose opinion carries more weight in reality? Your friend's or the regulations'? What do you think is going to happen if you listen to your friend and floor it? Would you be convinced when you're pulled over and given a ticket? Unfortunately, restrictions are a reality right now. Performance restrictions will be lifted somewhat when the province moves to Stage 3, and not before. Unfortunately, we cannot say why the event promoter would promise an event on a specific day when we're not at stage 3 yet.

Sorry if this post seems blunt. We tried to be fairly clear and explanatory in our previous postings. We assumed people would actually read the postings and understand what they were saying since they were written in plain English. The fact that we still get emails asking if the event is still going ahead, even though we're still not at Stage 3 yet, suggests that a more direct and blunt response is required. Again, we do not have the staff resources to answer each and every query -- which is always some variation of the information contained in our blogs and Facebook posts.
